The original concept for a Frameless Glass Curtain came about over 10 years ago. Basic frameless sliding doors were already available but these had a simple design, and only available as single glazed products and the leaves sliding on Teflon (PTFE). In addition, these basic European products we considered unsuitable for the quality-conscious, discerning UK market and consumer.
An already great concept in doors, made better by FGC.
In 2009, we brought about our advanced double glazed slide and fold door when, our Managing Director, Gary Beresford set about improving what was a great initial concept for the UK Market.
Our first frameless glass door also used the Teflon design concept for operation, but this was significantly improved by us enabling our doors to come with a 5-year guarantee instead of one year offered with other products.
Substantial investment in creating what we believe to the perfect slide and fold door followed. We designing new hardware, suitable glass units to enhance the frameless concept and engineering the product for the ultimate in long-term reliability. Only in this way would our product compete with the long guarantees and performance requirements of the UK home improvement market and provide a better all-round product.
Our doors were submitted for testing to European Standards as well as BS6375-part 1 2009. They passed with flying colours.
As a forward-thinking and progressive company, we listen to our customers. More and more of our clients wanted wider and taller doors in keeping with the modern trend for large glass screens. Our doors fully maximise the light and space desired in today’s modern extensions.
Over the years we have continuously updated and improved our frameless door products. Innovations include designing a wheeled system that enables doors to be manufactured wider and taller than other bifolding doors on the market. Better still, 95% of the components found in our doors are UK manufactured.
